James Franco Adapting your Epic Twitter Tale of Zola and Jess To the Screen

Last October, a holding yarn to competing the epic beautifully constructed wording of Homer commenced popularly circulating around the internet. Twitter user @_zolarmoon, an account belonging to one Aziah “Zola” Water bores, related the fantastic adventure of her ill-fated holiday to Florida with a young woman named Jess she met at Hooters, in addition to captivated a land. In Zola’s personal words, the story is actually “kind of long nevertheless full of suspense [laughing crying emoji] [laughing weeping emoji],” stretching on for 148 pulse-pounding Twitter updates as she passes through this sordid account associated with lust, jealousy, murder, and pool use. I could truthfully not recommend this more highly; not only does Zola have a very real flair intended for storytelling, it manages to combine the four elements any great narrative demands: gunplay, cuckolding, Florida, and Hooters.

When this Jess & Zola Saga gained viral traction at the pursue end of March, Twitter users recognized the potential for drama in this hood soap internet explorer and began compiling their own personal fantasy casts — perhaps a grunged-up Margot Robbie as Jess, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Zola, and so on. — but nobody experienced considered who could direct such a thing. And we don’t have to, since that choice has now been made for us. Due date notes that job dilettante James Franco has agreed upon on to direct a great adaptation of this modern Ulysses with the script from Phil Neel and Mike Roberts, scribes of the recent Sundance success Goat.

The film, that could officially adapt this Rolling Stone document “Zola Tells All: The actual Story Behind The best Stripper Saga Ever Tweeted,” has yet to begin with casting, and will should contend with the nine other projects Franco offers gestating at any given moment. This news comes as anything of a disappointment, considering Franco’s poor reputation as a director, yet maybe he’ll improve adapting a contemporary timeless instead of Faulkner. All things considered, Zola’ersus definitely the Faulkner associated with 2015, so I guess all of us should’ve seen Franco’azines jumping on this task coming.
