Gwendoline Christie Says Captain Phasma Will Return in Star Wars: Episode VIII

When last we quit Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens she (SPOILER Notify FOR LITERALLY The greatest MOVIE OF ALL TIME) has been captured by Finn, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. She made it easier for them lower the particular Starkiller Base shields then, in a nod to your original Star Wars, our heroes taunted tossing her along the garbage shoot.

Not particularly a noble farewell to get a character who was eagerly anticipated all through the run-up to The Force Awakens, mainly because Gwendoline Christie of Game of Thrones had been playing this identity, but also because last but not least there was a female Stormtrooper and then she looked like a total badass. In reality, Phasma didn’t quite live up to the hype. Sure, her costume layout was fantastic. However she barely played out a role in the video (and when she would, she was primarily just giving this heroes exactly what many people wanted at the fall of a chrome-plated helmet).

It wasn’capital t clear from the end of The Force Awakens whether Phasma managed to make it off the Starkiller Base before the Resistance starkilled it, however apparently she would; in an interview for the SAG Awards, Christie told People that Phasma’utes story is not in excess of:

I will be in the next Gi joe movie. I think that’s an exclusive, actually.

This is great news for Phasma enthusiasts (they’re called “phans”). There’utes no question Phasma has a large amount of potential (not to mention that halloween costume, which Christie herself named “incredibly striking”). But most from it remained untapped in The Push Awakens. Hopefully writer/director Rian Johnson locates a juicy subplot for Phasma to call her own. The woman could be an interesting foil for Kylo Ren and Standard Hux, or Rey for that matter.

Star Wars: The Phasma Strikes Back (subject not final) opens in theaters with December 15, 2017.
